Open sea BD at ARAMCO NGL terminal, Yanbu - KSA

PROJECT:  Open sea berthing dolphins at ARAMCO NGL terminal, Yanbu - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

CLIENT: SAUDI ARCHIRODON Ltd.
ASSOCIATED OFFICES: Triton Consulting engineers Ltd / SARCO

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The aim of the design was to compete an existing open sea Yanbu NGL (Yanbu Natural Gas Liquids) terminal of ARAMCO to provide berthing and mooring facilities for a 6000DWT Benzene ship at two exiting Berths (71 & 72).

DIOLKOS provided the preliminary and detailed structural design of 4 mooring dolphins at the same berthing line that accommodates LPG tankers of 280000 DWT. New dolphins are able to function together with the existing 4 mooring dolphins for the LNG tankers at a mud line depth ranging from -18.00m to -26.00m.

Each dolphin is in plan 6.3x2.1m2 of structural steel supported on steel piles D1778 and is capable to resist berthing forces of about 2300kN and mooring forces of about 300kN at various directions and is able to displace so that it can be compatible of the existing berthing dolphins when accommodating the large tankers.

The design is completed and the project is under construction.

Design years: 2015-6
