PROJECT:  Expansion of the commercial port of Thessaloniki

CLIENT: J/V ADK SA - Rogan and Associates SA. - Triton Ltd.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

Design of the structural part of the reinforced concrete superstructure with all auxiliary structures (pre-slabs, manholes, culverts, access slabs, etc.), of the reinforced concrete cellular boxes (Caisson) for port infrastructure and design, for the two piers, the Rail infrastructure of heavy cranes.
  • There are two types of superstructures for their respective berths. The superstructures are cast on infrastructure boxes using pre-slabs and accommodate crane trucks, one for the pier no 26 and two for no 24. Also are included access slabs at the positions of expansion joints of the superstructure.
  • Cellular boxes (Caisson) have dimensions in plan 27.7x14.0m, and heights for pier no 26, 16.8m and 12.60m (integration with the existing project) and the pier no 24, 16.80m (different from that of no 26 due to loadings). The boxes are divided into 2 rows of 6 cells each.
  • The crane's Pier 26 has the rear wheel axis on a separate infrastructure (due to large distance). This infrastructure includes a foundation beam rest on a pile cap and connected to the superstructure of the pier. The entire project resolves the acute problems of differential sedimentation that may occur due to the soft foundation soil.

The project has not been built yet.

Design years: 1997-8
