PROJECT:  Port of Patras

CLIENT: J/V ADK Consulting Engineers S.A. - Triton Consulting Engineers Ltd.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

Design of the structural part of the reinforced concrete superstructure with all auxiliary structures (pre-slabs, manholes, etc.) and the reinforced concrete cellular boxes (Caissons) for the infrastructure of the port. Support for the J/V on design verification for contractors submitted designs and various other structural issues.
  • The superstructure slabs are constructed on Caissons, that form port infrastructure, in part on pre-slabs and in part on cell fill (as it fill the cell does not extend to the crest of boxes). Two basic types of superstructure designed, one for the quay (with variants) and one for the breakwater.
  • Cellular boxes (Caisson) have dimensions in plan and height 11.0m 20.9mx11.3m and are divided into 2 rows of cells with 5 cells on each row. Two basic types of boxes designed, one for the quay (with variants) and one for the breakwater. Variants were geometric variations to suit the intended position, as port design.

The project has been completed and is in operation.

Design years: 1994-2003
Design standards: DIN, Greek Earthquake Design Standard
