The use of glass as structural material

In the last decade we have seen a dramatic increase in the use of structural glass in construction due to rising interest among architects and improvements in technology. The obvious reason for choosing glass is that it is translucent and resistant to the effects of erosion. This work aims to gather information relating to the use of the material and mainly to give the reader the impetus for deeper engagement with the object.
Grounded in the literature describes the experience gained from design and manufacture of glass construction, but because of the large scale of the issue mainly is limited to facades.
